Her Story: Her Victory

Joel Hawkins

Mary is a single mom. She works hard to provide but sometimes the hours aren't enough and the hourly rate can't cover the bills. She has tried to find her help in a boyfriend but it got too physical. She has tried to find her escape in drugs but they couldn't satisfy. She let her house go. Almost losing her kids to Child Protective Services.

Then she started receiving a box of food from House on the Hill. It arrived each month at the same time, just in time. Mary realized if someone, she didn't know, cared enough about her family to provide them food each month, what was she doing. She realized she needed to change.

Her story is her victory. She started to make the changes on her own. Focusing her life. Returning to her roots and getting back to who she was before. A box of food played a role in turning her story into victory.
