Every family needs shelter and some families have a harder time finding it.

Our Housing First program provides a place to stay as long as the family needs it.  Every family or individual referred to House on the Hill receives available housing no questions asked.  We then begin to work with the family to see how we can help them move forward by helping them with a plan...

How it works:

Family Referral

Most of our family referrals come from community organization referrals.  Some other referrals come in from Family Resource Centers in our schools in the community we serve.

House the Family

Our goal is to stabilize the family as quickly as possible.  Our housing first model provides safe and secure housing.  Families and individuals are provided with guidelines for their housing placement and are moved in.

Following Up

Our volunteers and future employees then follow up over time to see how the family is doing with their budget, sustainability of housing and their food sources.  Many of the families we serve are managing with food stamps, limited income, may be the working poor and/or may be refugee or asylum seeking families.  We work to build a sustainable budget plan, secure affordable housing, connect them to job opportunities and from time to time may provide short term employment opportunities to promote job skills and employment history.  Many of the families we work with are referred to other service providers for ongoing needs including mental health, addiction and abuse recovery services.  House on the Hill is not a case management service organization.

Food First.

Every family needs food and some families have a harder time getting it.

Our Food First program provides a box of approximately 8 meals for a family of 4.  Every family and individual referred to House on the Hill receives a food box no questions asked.  We then begin to work with the family to see how we can help them move forward by helping them with a plan...

How it works:

Family Referral

Most of our family referrals come from the Family Resource Centers at the schools in the community we serve.  Some other referrals come in from local community and religious organizations.

Boxes Packed/Delivered

Each month during the third full week of the month, our team of volunteers pack up our boxes with fresh meat, some garden vegetables, milk, bread and sometimes eggs along with other shelf stable and staple items providing at least 8 meals for a family of four.  Our volunteers deliver boxes directly to the door of each family.
