It's Evident

When you make the decision to do something, you prepare and then you do it. It then becomes evident. No one can deny it or you or the work you did to make it happen because it's out there in the world.
Someone in poverty who makes a move to get out of their situation and better their own future has given evidence of their intent. We have multiple households who have decided to make themselves evident to the world. You probably don't see them working at your favorite big box store and one of your favorite restaurants or on your drive into work in the car next to you. This is because they are just like you.
They wake their kids up for school. They go to work. They come home to cook dinner, do homework with their kids, clean the house, do laundry and pay the bills. Just like you. For most of the households we serve with housing, they are single-parent, one-income households with little to no local family support. No grandparents, sisters, brothers or cousins to help out. They find family in friends and co-workers and the staff and volunteers at House on the Hill.
Those of us who work and pay bills and raise kids know how hard it can be. House on the Hill endeavors to provide some of the supports needed by these families to succeed. We help with housing and utility costs as part of our Guesthouse program. We help households create a budget, savings, parenting and disciplinary skills and we visit with clients twice a month and communicate weekly through text and conversation. Our clients know how much we care even when they fail. We encourage them to get right back up. The Guesthouse program is not a free ride or a handout. Clients work toward their goals. Those who can't after three or four months can no longer participate in the program.
Life can be hard. The Guesthouse program works to make it more manageable.
Support a family today and help keep moving people forward.
