Resilient Community Movement:
Resilient Neighbors. Resilient Community.
Imagine a community where every neighbor has someone to turn to. That's the vision behind House on the Hill's Resilient Community Movement. We believe the strongest communities are built by ordinary people who choose to invest their time, talents, and resources in one another. Together, we're creating a network of support that helps families and individuals overcome challenges, build brighter futures, and strengthen our community one neighbor at a time, month after month.
Because that's what neighbors do.
Join a Team.
Help our Neighbors.
Monthly
Food Team:
This team helps direct all our food programs. Those interested in serving on a specific food related team may also be asked to be a part of this team. If you don’t have monthly/weekly time but love what we do with food, this could be the team for you.
The Grocery/Grocery Truck Team:
The Grocery Team helps stock the Richardsville and mobile locations, helps staff each location and helps with maintenance and cleaning of the Richardsville store and Grocery vehicles. With 13 locations, there is a weekly need for team members to be present once each month for a specific location/time/week of the month.
Food Box Delivery Team:
As our Grocery and Grocery Truck program expands, we still have a need for Food Box Delivery drivers. We continue to have individuals who are shut-in, disable or who are unable to get to one of our 13 Grocery Locations to shop. Deliveries will take place on a monthly basis and can be done on any weekday or weekend day. We seek drivers who can commit to 1-3 home deliveries and do the same deliveries each month.
Transportation Team:
You have a great driving record and are willing to be a HOTH-Insured, driver for Food Pickup/Distribution, Grocery Truck locations/Setup and possibly our ride to work program. (“Ride to Work” is a self-insured, voluntary basis.)
Housing Team:
You want to see people be successful in their personal plan in the housing programs with us. Team members visit clients in their homes and at the HOTH office one time each month, be part of a support circle and text group for weekly/ongoing texts and participate in housing unit inspections/rent pickup each month. This team also helps direct all the housing programs at HOTH.
Marketing Team:
You love writing, graphic design, social media, are willing to talk to potential event/program sponsors, you have a great video presence and/or radio voice (Video/Radio not required!) and you might have some video editing experience.
Office Team:
You love helping people find resources, are pretty good with computer input, answering the phone, texting and talking with people who may be in need and distress. You are calm in a room full of chaos. (Some days are chaotic in the HOTH Office.)
Development
The Partnerships Team:
You are interested and willing to help us invest in our partnerships with local businesses, corporations and other community partners. Most of these partnerships are or lead to ongoing funding.
Annual Goal $400,000.
Grant Writing Team:
You want to use your skills to help raise the funding needed for the three expanding and developing food and three housing programs with House on the Hill. You are interested and willing to help locate, write, submit and implement grants to support these programs.
Annual Goal $100,000.
Resilient Community Lead Team:
Resilient Neighbors. Resilient Community.
You like a good leadership role. You are interested and willing to engage people in the work of House on the Hill, act as a mouthpiece for the work in our community and encourage involvement in one of our teams and programs as well as our monthly neighbor support.
Annual Goal $250,000.
Events
Community Food Drive Team:
You enjoy and want to build our relationships with our school, business and community partners. You love a challenge and are willing to get the food drive supplies/marketing materials out to partners, assist in picking up collected food items/food drive supplies and inventorying all the food into the HOTH warehouse.
Thanksgiving Box Event Team:
Our annual signature community event, this event is going into it’s fourth year. We are planning to prepare 2,000 boxes this year for all our local school partners and our regional RASK partners. This event has team lead and multiple sub-team positions. There is something for everyone as part of this event.
Home for the Holidays Team:
An annual event, Home for the Holidays is part of our recurring donorship campaign each year. A simple poster and stand with a QR code is distributed to local church, business and community partners. This team helps acquire those partners, distributes setups in late-October and helps pickup setups after the event in January.
Annual Goal $25,000
Holiday Light Hunt Team:
The NEWEST fundraiser at HOTH, the Holiday Light Hunt is a scavenger hunt taking participants to Christmas Light displays along the route. Team members will help with the development of routes, the web stack which drives the scavenger hunt, helps promote in the community and serves in helping setup the event which runs from Black Friday through December 31. Since this event is a self-run, app-based, scavenger hunt there is not nightly/daily commitment. Annual Goal $50,000.
Conquer the Hill Race Team:
Supporting our growing Danny Carothers Housing Endowment, this Run/Walk is an annual event to build the endowment to over $5,000,000. Annually the endowment will support HOTH housing programs, construction of affordable housing units and support families in need. Many opportunities to lead, support, organize and implement with this team! Annual Goal $60,000.
Art Festival Team:
This event launched in April 2026. This is a community event with local/regional artists, musical groups, local school performing groups and art contests. If you are a promoter of the arts and love seeing the community come together around a strong cause like food and housing, this event team is perfect for you. Annual Goal $10,000.
Awards Luncheon Team:
This community event is a fundraiser built around recognizing community partners and volunteers in our community who are making a local/regional impact on food insecurity and housing instability. You might be an event planner or an aspiring event planner or you just love a good party! Annual Goal $50,000.
Concert Team:
Music lovers who want to make a difference can get involved in this developing fundraising event. As HOTH works with local promoters to acquire pop musical talent to design an event where ticket sales and a concert presentation about the work of HOTH raise an estimated $50,000. Annual Goal $50,000.
