What Matters Most
House on the Hill will never give up working to provide sustainability to households in our community.
In Community three things matter the most. First, People. We all need one another. Humans, it's proven, need one another. Isolation and being solitary with little or no interaction with others can lead to mental health issues.
Shelter is a basic need for every human being. Also proven, we can't live without some kind of shelter. Our bodies are not built to withstand the elements. A majority of us live in a house or permanent structure. Some of us do not have access to permanent housing whether its due to cost, attainability (lack of employment or financial means) or mental health issues. Shelter is one of the most important things House on the Hill works to provide.
Third is Food. The proverb, "Man cannot live by bread alone," is true. We need food, water and shelter as well as one another. Nutrient rich foods, as we all know of late, are more expensive. Limited, low and no income households struggle to purchase groceries. Some of the most affordable food items are high in sugar and fat, highly processed and lack the vitamins, proteins and nutrients we all need. Programs at HOTH are designed to bring the three things that matter most together.
Our housing and food programs work to meet people where they are and move them towards sustainability while bringing humans together to help one another. Volunteers working with clients. Clients being served by volunteers. A listening ear. Checking in to make sure everyone is safe and healthy. Meeting needs when it's needed most and matters the most. HOTH wants to be there!
